ATAM Unveils Custom Built Overmoulding Press Machines to Boost Productivity

With its main aim being to improve its production capabilities and enhance operational efficiency, ATAM recently completed a significant investment into replacing a substantial portion of its overmoulding press machines, at its Agrate Brianza plant in Italy.

This major investment will result in an improved production capacity, flexibility in switching from the production of one encapsulated coil to another, and provide complete control of overmoulding - one of the most critical phases of the entire production process. Thereby positioning ATAM as a market leader in its industry.

Six new machines have been introduced, with varying tonnage. The largest of the six machines will be used in the manufacturing process of larger coil sizes, whilst the five machines with lower tonnage will be used for moulding smaller coil sizes.

Working in collaboration with ATAM’s long standing partner and experts in producing encapsulated coils and machinery management software - DM Industrial Srl: TURRA Division, the custom built ERGON overmoulding press machines have a more compact design, increased productivity and total process control while adhering to the highest industrial safety standards.

One notable feature is the integration of dual monitors. Operators can oversee the production process, while aligning their cycle time to that of the machine and, simultaneously monitor the parameters controlling the product, its technical design and warning signals, all in real time.

To further streamline its operations, an automatic loading system has been built into each overmoulding press machine. This significantly reduces processing time and increases speed to market, allowing ATAM to swiftly respond to fluctuating market demands. Moreover, the integration of the new press machines with internal process methods and data analysis procedures enhances overall process control. The machine itself automatically manages all set parameters and by communicating with ATAM’s ERP system generates compliance feedback ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards.

With the incorporation of innovative sensing technology and real time feedback, ATAM can now perform quality control checks during the production process, mitigating the need for post production testing. This proactive approach minimises waste and failure rates but also underscores ATAM's commitment to delivering superior quality products to its customers.
